Being healthy means more than simply being physically active. It’s about maintaining a balanced spirit, mind and body. The Y is a place where you can work toward that balance by challenging yourself to learn a new skill or hobby, fostering connections with friends through our lifelong learning programs, or bringing your loved ones closer together through our many family-centered activities. At the Y, it’s not about the activity you choose as much as it is about the benefits of living healthier on the inside as well as the outside.
Locally, the branches that make up the YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga welcome individuals from every walk of life and at a variety of points along their health journeys. Being healthy means more than simply being physically active. Whether you're young or old, just starting out, or a veteran, the YMCA offers a variety of equipment, classes, and programs for getting and staying healthy. In fact, when you join the Y, you will have numerous programs available to you.
Biometric Screenings at the Y
The term is intimidating, but the process is not. A Biometric Screening is simply a blood test and a few basic body measurements such as height, weight, blood pressure, etc. This simple 20-minute screening is used to evaluate current health status fo rearly detection and intervention which leads to a healthier, longer life.
The results of the Biometric Evaluation are used to determine risk factors for disease, reveal existing conditions and give a snapshot of current health.
Screenings are offered at our Downtown, Hamilton and Healthy Living Center at North River branches. The screenings are $40. For more information or to schedule a screening, contact Megan Vermeer.
When you train with a Certified Personal Trainer, you will receive a personally designed program, along with the motivation you will need to succeed. Whether your goal is to lose weight, get stronger, improve your body composition or recover from an injury, personal training can help! Save by purchasing multiple sessions in advance! Healthier You in 2
This program is a “user friendly” educational program for any health seeker who is wanting help developing motivation to lead a healthier lifestyle. The program is delivered in 2 one hour sessions-- basic nutrition & the importance of physical activity. Our goal is to help participants establish healthy habits and a healthy lifestyle through nutrition and physical activity.
