The Cleveland Family YMCA now offers two Homeschool classes!

Make sure your homeschooled child gets the physical/group activities he or she needs at the Cleveland Family YMCA.  See more below about our Enrichment and PE Programs.

Homeschool Enrichment Program:

  • Held on Fridays in 6-week sessions.
  • This is a drop-off program and parents are not required to stay on site during student activities.
  • Drop-off time is from 12:15-12:30 p.m. and pick-up is from 3:30-4:00 p.m.
  • We start with a devotion then transition into classroom activities centered around our theme, which varies by six-week sessions (this spring the topics are art, reading, and science). The students then have approximately an hour of P.E. and Sports followed by another hour of Swimming and Water Games.  When students return to the classroom for pick-up they will have snack time.
  • Program is for children ages 5-13.  For classroom and P.E. activities, we will split into two or three smaller age or ability-based groups as needed.
  • Cost: $40 for members/$60 for non-members for the entire six week session.
  • What to bring:
    • Each child should bring a towel, swim suit, and snack for each class.  They should be sent in athletic clothes and tennis shoes.  A change of clothes can be sent for them after swimming.

Homeschool PE Program

  • This program will meet for 2 hours a week in one, 10-week session. Class will be from 9-11 a.m. on Fridays beginning Feb. 3.
  • This is a drop-off program and parents are not required to stay on site during student activities.
  • This course is focused mainly on physical education and health.  Classroom topics will include healthy eating, heart rate, importance of physical activity, and overall healthy habits. Gym topics will include a physical education test to be completed the first and last day of class, sports sessions, specialty days including weightlifting and swimming, and more. Each student will keep a fitness journal throughout the session.
  • Our goal is to serve middle and high school students, specifically those needing to gain PE credits for school. Students ages 10-18 are welcome in the program (course syllabus, the fitness test results, a certificate of completion, and the student's fitness journal can serve as documentation for school credit.)
  • Cost: $60 for members/$80 for non-members for the entire 10-week session.
  • What to bring:
    • Students should come dressed in tennis shoes and athletic clothes for every class.  They should bring a water bottle and any assignments from the instructors from the previous class.  A snack may be sent if desired to eat after class.
